From amateurish device terroristic attack?
by Barbora Misakova
Soon even the blowing nose in the public will be considered as terrorism. I know, poor joke, but what to say about the White House statement that labeled failed car bomb in Times Square as an act of terrorism? It is fact that someone prepared something what resembled a bomb, and maybe he really wanted to hurt someone, but marking this (fortunately unsuccessful) incident as terroristic attack seems to me overblown. Washington Post reported on Monday that car bomb was probably coordinated by several people that have international ties. According to Gibbs’ words: “anybody that has the type of material that they had in a car in Times Square, I would say that that wa! s intended to terrorize, absolutely. And I would say that whoever did that would be categorized as a terrorist, yes.” What is strange about this case the most? The fact that while yesterday it was just amateurish device that failed to explode, today it is terroristic attempt that could have set off a deadly fireball. Even though New York police already interviewed the owner of the vehicle and scrutinized more video tapes, they still have no clue who was that thin, white man. So the investigation still tries to identify him. As U. S. Attorney General Eric Holder promised responsible people will be arrested, he has to solve problem connected with identity of the would-be bomber which still eludes investigators. Hold still claims: “We have made really substantial progress. We have some good leads. We are following a number of other leads as well.”
