Google Inc. is facing accusations from the world that it has overreacted in entering the privacy of consumers in its new project called "Street View" car. While the new service was only announced it was not known that Google would go so deep into personal data, and took complete email and their passwords. Even the company itself has admitted the mistake, but what really happened? The reaction came by a Canadian privacy watchdog that was concerned of the rights of thousands of Canadian people. Canada started but other countries as well got interested in this issue. Regulators in France, Spain and Germany as well are looking through the Google Inc. new system and are willi! ng to answer to the violation of human rights. Advocates and experts say that the situation was more than clear, that the largest Internet browser must face punishments. U.S. attorney generals from 30 different states have organized already and are launching a joint probe against Google leaders. As the leader of the attorney generals group from Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal says the consequences might be huge and that brings to life "significant concerns" for the multi-state investigation. How did the problem occurred at all? Street View cars funtion on the basis of crisscrossing around the globe taking panoramic pictures of streets. But, without specific intention (if that can be taken as a truth, it has collected data from unsecured wireless networks that influenced people from more than 30 countries. "It's clear from those inspections that while most of the data is fragmentary, in some instances entire emails and URLs were captured, as well as passwords," Google ! Vice President of Engineering and Research Alan Eustace said. ! It is good that Google Inc. doesn't deny the mistake and promises to fix the problem as soon as possible. As I once wrote, your life given in the hands of the net is not in a secure hands.

Toyota recalling 1.5 million cars by Magdalena Rosova

Almost a whole year after terrible recalls, Toyota has recalled another 1.5 million vehicles Thursday. The news came just when the automaker thought its problems were over. The new recalls address brake-fluid and fuel-pump troubles. New series of recalls again drew attention to safety issues that the automaker is dealing with for several years. Toyota, the biggest carmaker in the world, said no accident or injuries took place during the latest recall. The recall covers some Lexus and Toyota models from the 2004 – 2006 model years. These cars are mostly in the United States and in Japan. Toyota is trying to clear up its old problems and to improve its image, but this r! ecalls does not help. The previous recall covered cars with braking and acceleration problems, which were blamed on driver error. But Jean-Pierre Dube, a marketing professor at the University of Chicago, said that the problems were caused by deterioration of parts. Now it seems like Toyota has a chronic problem and it will surely effect the way consumers perceive the Toyota brand. The famous automaker does not represent the same level of reliability as before. Safety experts says Toyota was trying to clean up messes from its past. From February 2005 many people started reporting brake-fluid leaks. It took more than five years to solve the problem and come with the recall. This time Toyota is recalling more than 11 million cars and trucks for problems such as faulty gas pedals, floor mats trapping accelerators, braking problems and stalling engines.

Each country has its own particular characteristic features. In case of Italy, the first thing you imagine after hearing the name is most probably pizza, and the second is Mafia. Mafia is deeply rooted in the Italian state and its origins date back as early as the mid 19th century. By the end oItalian prosecutors to be protected by soldiersf the 90s the influence of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra, which made the Italian Mafia famous also abroad, had weakened and the power was yielded to ´Ndrangheta. In early 2000s, the organization centered in Calabria became the most powerful crime syndicate in Italy. Now it seems Italy has plunged into another wave of fights with Mafia. S! oldiers are being sent to the southern city of Reggio Calabria to protect prosecutors threatened by the ´Ndrangheta mobsters. As the authorities reported, the prosecutors pushed the organization out of its ´comfort zone´, we might say, with thousands of arrests and turncoats. The protection reinforcement provided by the army comes after a series of incidents aimed at the public officials. Prosecutors received death threats, or envelopes containing bullets. Homemade bomb exploded at the entrance to the courthouse in January, and another explosion occured outside prosecutor´s house in August. You can't afford to underestimate threats like this," says Giuseppe Pignatone, the city´s chief prosecutor. "But we will continue [our work]." Since Pignatone stepped into the Office in 2008, about 300 suspected members of the ´Ndrangheta organization has been arrested, reportedly, including one of its top leaders. But how will things further progress? That! is the question troubling most of the Italian citizens. Will ! there be an open war between the state and the crime syndicate? "The 'Ndrangheta has never before challenged the state," says Antonio Nicaso, co-author of The Bad Weed, a book about the Calabrian criminal organization. Internet security has been considered as one of the most discussed topics of our times. We're living in era when half of human population has internet access and the amount of daily transactions of every kind are going through this virtual space. Starting from basic communication, ending with payments and life insurances. Internet possesses amazing amount of information and these can be abused. And it seems like a bad joke if we hear about successful hacker's attack on highest positions – on governmental level. Banks and insurance companies are no better. Just go back in the short history and find out that the most influential companies have been targets of successfu! l attacks. This makes them look weak and most of them didn't even made sufficient efforts to prevent such attacks. But the change is hanging in the air. Some governments, like Australian have passed several regulations that prevent people from using their computers if they are under hacker's attack. Speaking of „botnet“ or a network of affected computers ran by hackers, Australia has passed the program that is alerting users if their machine is a part of this network. The machine needs to be quarantined, the program bans several web pages and does other restrictions. The program has been offered for mass utilization also in the U.S. And here we come to the point when one needs to clarify the terms. The program, as been avised was working as an alert system for user who is unaware of nearly 90 percent of viral attacks. But it also means another central program is controlling personal data, transactions and all internet connections from personal computers. One ha! s to differ alert sysem and protective steps taken without cus! tomer's awareness. The second option is leading into limited internet access and regulation also in this wild territory. But there are several hints Internet will be another protected and strictly observed area of the future – the vision of privacy will remain just an illusion. The security will dominate. But where does the security face the control, it is still undefined.

Bezpečnosť na internete je dnes jednou z najvážnejších tém. Žijeme v čase, kedy sa na virtuálnu sieť denne pripája viac ako polovica ľudskej populácie a cez túto sieť sa odohráva enormné množstvo operácii – začneme pri súkromnej korešpondencii a komunikácii, končíme pri platobných transakciách, životných poisteniach a nebude to len čierny humor – hackerských útokoch. Tie sa v posledných rokoch vyskytli na najvyšších miestach – úspešne. Známi hackeri boli scho! pní narušiť ochranné systémy vlád, armád, bánk a poisťovní. Tragikomicky pôsobila však proklamovaná bezpečnosť týchto inštitútcií – niekoľko hackerov firewall prelomilo len s úmyslom poukázať na totálnu laxnosť prístupu k vlastnej bezpečnosti. Ale zmena sa pomaly chystá aj v tejto oblasti – niektoré vlády zaviedli striktnú cenzúru a kontrolu, napríklad Čína kontroluje vnútorný obsah emailov. Austrália nedávno schválila zákon, ktorý umožňuje odpojenie počítača, ktorý sa stal terčom útoku. Do praxe bol zavedený program, ktorý na začiatku užívateľa informuje o tom, že jeho počítač je napadnutý, neskôr zamedzuje prístup k istým stránkam a limituj! e celkový prístup až do fázy totálneh! o odpoje nia. Austrálska vláda ponúkla tento program aj Spojeným štátom americkým Prichádzame však k bodu, kedy je treba ujasniť si pojmy – je rozdiel medzi alarmujúcim systémom a obmedzeniami, ktoré spustí. Pre množstvo užívateľov bude práve vypojenie alebo neschopnosť dostať sa na isté stránky veľmi citlivou témou, preto masové zavádzanie programu za výdatnej mediálnej kampane nemusí spôsobiť, že ľudia a firmy tento krok dobre prijmu. Na jednej strane stojí teda zvýšenie bezpečnosti operácii na internetovom priestore – pre zaujímavosť, bežný užívateľ netuší, že je obeťou útoku v takmer 90 percentách prípadov. Na strane druhej však stojí zneužitie moci a kontroly, ktoré sa vrámci „! ;bezpečnosti“ prijmu.

One of the biggest police forces in Britain is posting every incident that it deals with on Twitter. On its Twitter you can read about every incident, from stolen car to suspicious smell. The Twitter campaign shows that police are under the pressure as British officials want to provide a deep budget cuts. Chief Constable Peter Fahy of Manchester said in a message that was posted to YouTube, that the reality of police work was much more than just a crime. Of course, it is the biggest part of the work of police, but they do much more besides. Peter Fahy called police an agency of last resort saying that big part of their work was related to wider social problems of alcohol, d! rugs, mental health and people dealing with relationship problems. The Twitter project started at 5:00 a.m. Thursday and up to know the police has posted more than 1,300 different incidents. Among the first news there was an alert about a stolen vehicle thought to be headed for Manchester or the arrest of an aggressive shoplifter or a report of a man appears asleep at bus stop. Greater Manchester Police is one of the biggest police forces in the country, its responsibility is for a 1,300 square kilometer area. Most of Thursday's calls were ordinary cases, part of daily grind of police work. Many tweets were about domestic incidents, traffic accidents, stolen cars or missing people. Among the tweets there were also calls about aimals or complaints about a man urinating against a school wall.

Jeden z najväčších policajných zborov v Anglicku sa rozhodol pre prekvapujúci postup, všetky hlásené incidenty, ktorými sa zaoberá, dáva na sociálnu sieť Twitter. Na policajnom Twitteri si môžete prečítať skutočne o každom incidente, od ukradnutého auta po podozrivý smrad. Kampaň na Twitteri dokazuje, že polícia je pod silným tlakom kvôli snahe britských autorít o výrazné znižovanie rozpočtu. Riaditeľ manchesterskej polície Peter Fahy povedal vo videu, ktoré bolo umiestnené na YouTube,! že realita práce policajtov predstavuje oveľa viac ako len boj so zločinom. Samozrejme, že je najväčšou náplňou ich práce, avšak okrem toho robia ešte mnoho inej práce. Peter Fahy nazval políciu poslednou záchranou, kam sa dostanú rôzne problémy. Podľa neho polícia rieši mnohé sociálne konflikty súvisiace s alkoholom, drogami, či s mentálnym zdravím. Polícia musí často zasahovať do vzťahových problémov ľudí. Policajný projekt na Twitteri odštartoval vo štvrtok o piatej hodine ráno a do teraz už polícia dala na Twitter viac ako 1300 rôznych incidentov. Medzi prvými správami bolo ohlásenie ukradnutého vozidla, ktoré malo smerovať do Manchesteru, alebo správa o zatknutí agresívneho zlodeja v obchode, či spr&#! 225;va o mužovi, ktorý podľa všetkého! zaspal na autobusovej zastávke. Manchesterská polícia (GMP), je jedným z najväčších policajných zborov v celej krajine a je zodpovedná za územie, ktoré sa rozkladá na rozlohe dosahujúce až 1,300 štvorcových kilometrov. Väčšina štvrtkových oznámení boli bežné prípady, súčasť každodennej driny policajnej práce. Mnoho správ hlásilo incidenty v domácnostiach, dopravné nehody, ukradnuté autá alebo nezvestných ľudí. Medzi správami sa objavili aj hlásenia o zvieratách, kuriózna bola sťažnosť na muža močiaceho na budovu miestnej školy.

German militants killed in US missile attack in Pakistan by Zuzana Zelenakova

The intelligence agencies informed that a number of German militants were killed in Pakistan Monday. The men were said to be training in North Waziristan, the region close to the Afghan border. North Waziristan is closely associated with the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda. The attack was carried out by the United States and came following Germany´s statement that there is “concrete evidence” confirming that about 70 Germans underwent a terrorist training in Pakistan and Afghanistan. According to the intelligence agencies, the militants planned coordinated attacks on European cities. The main target of the missile strike was the town of Mir Ali that is kn! own to have links to Al-Qaeda. as a result of the uncovered information, the US issued a warning concerning possible terrorist attacks. However, Germany´s Interior minister cast a shadow of doubt over these alerts. ‘There are currently no indications of any immediate threat of attacks planned against Germany.There is no reason whatsoever to be alarmist at the moment,' says Thomas de Maiziere. Britain, with rather fresh and painful memory of London massacre still in mind, has raised the threat level from general to high. According to the Associated Press five Germans of Turkish origin were killed in a strike, some other agencies state number eight plus two gravely injured people. Germany, with the third largest contingent of military force fighting Taliban in Afghanistan, has long considered itself a possible target. So far, the country has been spared some major terrorist insurgencies. The Obama administration takes the whole situation very seriously, there have! been 21 missile attacks in September alone, mainly in the reg! ion of N orth Waziristan. The attacks, with the use of drones, have definitely contributed to the tensions between USA and Pakistan. Also, Americans are mounting pressure on Pakistan´s military to take action in North Waziristan. "They're insisting that we go in now, which we can't. We're telling them we'll go in on our own time," said the ISI official in Pakistan.
